York VFRS are looking for 'Active Firefighters'. Applicants need to have some fitness as tasks required, at times, can be physically demanding (ie. dragging hoses, wearing firefighting gear, working in hot conditions for long periods)

As an SES volunteer, you will be trained to assist the community to cope with natural or man-made disasters including:
Floods, cyclones, storm damage and earthquakes.
Flood mitigation, storm damage including chainsaw operations, land searches, urban search and rescue, providing first aid and managing injuries.
Volunteers also carry out land and air searches, urban search and rescue, vertical rescues, chainsaw operations, road crash rescue, and manage injuries.
