Volunteer Bush Firefighter

Bush Fire Service (BFS) volunteers play a significant and vital role in helping to ensure their local communities are safe.

As a volunteer you will be fully trained and equipped to carry out a range of activities including:

  • Responding to bush and scrub fires
  • Structural firefighting
  • Controlled burns
  • Fire prevention
  • Supporting other emergency services when required

Requirements

  • National Police Certificate *

Ideally you will reside within 20km of one of the following areas - Packsaddle, Ivanhoe or Crossing Falls.

  • Time Required

    You will be required to attend regular training and emergency call-outs whenever possible.

  • Training

    Regular training will be provided with the occasional weekend course and exercises throughout the year. Training includes safety, fire suppression methods, radio communications and use of various equipment.
