SWORD State Emergency Services (SES) Logistics is part of State Operations Logistics Support, Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Western Australia.

We play a significant role in supporting emergency services all over the state of Western Australia and are inviting capable and enthusiastic people to join our team. Be it truck driving, forklift or just hands on getting things done such as setting up respite shelters, delivering supplies to Fire fighters on the ground.

We encourage members from all backgrounds to express their interest in joining. If suitable, you will be trained in a range of activities including responding to statewide emergencies such as:

  • Bushfire
  • Cyclone
  • Storm
  • Hazardous materials emergency
  • Large scale search and rescue

Skills that you will learn over time include:

  • Camp management
  • Tent city construction
  • Remote Field Power Distributions Systems and Generators
  • On and off-road forklift operations (If license held)
  • Vehicle load restraint
  • Two way radio operations
  • And access to all SES training courses

Essential Criteria: Physically fit as this role can be physically demanding National Police Certificate C Class Manual Licence

As long as you are physically fit, you can join and deploy with us! We understand you have other commitments and you chose which deployments you are available for.

    SWORD SES meets weekly each Tuesday from 7pm to about 9pm at our warehouse in O'Connor. Deployments or tasking can be at any time 24/7 and can involve convoys in trucks and vehicles, warehouse loading/unloading, setting up respite and camps. Training is occasionally on weekends as needed.

  • Training

    Over time, you’ll gain valuable skills like camp mgt & construction, field power & generators, forklift ops, vehicle load restraint & two-way radio use. If the conditions are right, you might even get the chance to get forklift or a MR/HR truck licence.
