Marine Rescue Communications Support provides 24/7 marine radio and telephone coverage supporting 37 Marine Rescue Groups across Western Australia. They are the communications backbone behind safe boating in WA. Our Volunteers are the calm, Professional Voices behind every Log On/ Log Off, distress call and safety check – helping keep recreational watercraft users safe every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage statewide marine radio and telephone communications
- Respond to Log On/Log Off schedules and distress/emergency calls
- Accurately log and track vessel movements using digital platforms
- Liaise with Water Police and Marine Rescue Groups to support operations
- Maintain clear, calm, and professional communication at all times
Key Tasks
- Participate in a 24/7 roster (minimum commitment of 3 shifts per month after training)
- Operate communications systems from a supported home-based setup
- Use systems such as Deckee to log and monitor marine activity
- Follow established procedures and communication protocols
- Ensure accurate and timely record keeping
