As an Apparatus Inspection & Maintenance Member with Pemberton VFRS, you will play a vital role in ensuring our firefighters and equipment are ready to respond when the call comes. Your role supports operational crews by helping maintain the safety, reliability and readiness of our appliances, equipment and facilities. Duties may include:

  • Assisting officers with routine inspection of fire appliances
  • Sizing, ordering, inspecting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) of operational volunteers
  • Checking and maintaining operational equipment, including:
    • Breathing Apparatus
    • Radios and Lighting
    • Road Crash Rescue Equipment
    • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) equipment
    • General Firefighting Equipment
  • Assisting with minor maintenance and upkeep of the station building and surrounding yard
  • Helping ensure equipment is clean, serviceable and correctly stowed after incidents and training

Volunteering in this role offers the opportunity to make a critical contribution without necessarily being on the front line. You’ll receive:

Requirements

  • Driver's Licence (C)
  • National Police Certificate *

    Approximately 4 hours per month for inspections, maintenance and training. Additional time as available to assist following incidents or during working bees. Flexibility to fit around work, family and other commitments.

  • Training

    All training provided before undertaking inspection and maintenance tasks. Ongoing skills development in equipment care, safety checks and basic servicing. All personal protective clothing and equipment supplied.
