The duties performed by Marine Rescue volunteers can mean the difference between life and death. As a boat crew member, you will obtain a high degree of training and qualifications, with promotion through to rescue skipper a possibility. Training includes radio operation, boat handling, navigation, rope handling, towage, search and rescue and a host of other maritime skills. Once a level of competence is achieved, you will become eligible to assist in the operation of the rescue craft. Volunteering provides the opportunity to become an integral part of a fun, hardworking team and offers many benefits such as: ·         Learning new skills. ·         Ongoing training with experienced trainers. ·         Support, guidance and mentoring from experienced members and DFES staff. ·         Meeting new people and enjoying the company of like-minded team members. ·        Contributing to the safety of your local community.

    Approximately four hours per month. Attendance at group activities and regular training. Respond to call incidents when available.
