SES volunteers play a significant and vital role in ensuring the safety of their local communities. Geraldton-Greenough SES is looking for adaptable and flexible volunteers to join our dynamic team to deliver emergency preparation and response. Once trained, volunteers will be equipped to carry out a range of activities, including some or all of the following:
- Storm damage assistance.
- Aiding the community in the event of natural disasters.
- Water Bomber reloading – water and foam retardant.
- Land and urban search and rescue for missing persons.
- Structural damage stabilisation – car vs house.
- Participating in community education and public relations activities.
- Some opportunities for intrastate, interstate, and international deployment to disaster affected regions.
- Assist in incident management control rooms, including communications, logistics, operations, and support roles.
- Operate various radio communication techniques, GPS, map and use navigation techniques.
