VFRS volunteers play a significant and vital role in helping to ensure their local community is safe.  Brigade firefighters carry out a range of activities including:

  • Responding to local emergencies such as structure fires, bush and scrub fires, vehicle and industrial rescue, and hazardous material (HAZMAT) incidents.
  • Working with the community to identify and manage local fire risk.
  • Undertaking local fire prevention activities with the community

  • Time Required

    Minimum of 4 hours per month. Occasional weekend training & exercises throughout the year. All members are expected to attend a minimum of 2x weekly meetings/training sessions per month to maintain skills currency. Attend emergency callouts when available.

  • Training

    Weekly brigade training is held on Tuesdays at 1900hrs. All training and personal protective clothing & equipment is provided.
