Cadet Firefighters

Bunbury Volunteer Bushfire Brigade

Bunbury Volunteer Bushfire Brigade logo

We teach our Cadets the basics in Firefighting, including bushfire behaviour, bushfire suppression, communications, using the radio’s, map reading, teamwork skills, leadership skills, fire extinguishers, first aid, and more.
They can then move into the Firefighting roles of the Brigade if they choose to with parental support. Or if they prefer they can remain a Cadet up to the age of 18. Many of our Cadets start to get involved with the more Operational activities from the age of 16 or slightly earlier if we feel they are ready.

Our Cadet program has been very successful over the years, and we have found it very beneficial to kids in growing their own self belief and confidence. It also gives them some life skills which they will use throughout their lives
