Bush Fire Brigade volunteers play a significant and vital role in helping to ensure their local communities are safe.  Volunteer firefighters are trained and equipped to carry out a range of activities, including:·

  • Emergency response to bush and scrub fires·
  • Undertaking local fire prevention activities with the community
  • Supporting other emergency service agencies as required
  • Community education and engagement.

Volunteering is an opportunity to become an integral part of our fun, hardworking team and offers many benefits such as:·

  • Support, guidance and mentoring from experienced brigade members·         Access to DFES Wellness Branch (critical incident follow-up, Peer Support Officers, counselling, and chaplain services)·

Requirements

  • Driver's Licence (C)
  • National Police Certificate *

    2x training session per month Occasional weekend training & exercises throughout the year Attend emergency callouts when available

  • Training

    All training and personal protective clothing & equipment is provided. New members are required to complete basic training prior to attending incidents.
