Bushfire brigade volunteers play a significant and vital role in helping to ensure their local communities are safe. Volunteer firefighters are trained and equipped to carry out a range of activities which can include:

  • Respond to bush and scrub fires.
  • Participate in hazard reduction burns.
  • Undertake local fire prevention activities with the community.
  • Support other emergency service agencies as required.
  • Participate in community education and engagement.

Volunteering is an opportunity to become an integral part of our fun, hardworking team and offers many benefits such as:

  • Access to DFES wellness branch (critical incident follow-up, Peer Support Officers, Counselling, and Chaplain Services)

Requirements

Reasonable fitness is required for some roles.

    Meetings and training and meetings occur once a month in the evenings plus occasional training and exercises throughout the year. As well as attending emergency incidents as required.
