Duty Officer Phone Monitor

Exmouth Volunteer Marine Rescue Group

Consider this exciting and rewarding role by joining this local, volunteer-run, emergency service team by monitoring and monitoring the Marine Radio Duty Officer Phone. This person will monitor a cell phone (from their home or wherever) 24/7 for any incoming calls from persons in need. If a call is received you will notify crew to respond. This role is pivotal in the coordination of Emergency Response.

When on duty, you will be given a cell phone with a booklet that has all the information on how to do the job step by step incase you forget what to do. When you receive a phone call from a persons in need you will collect as much information as possible (ie: Name, Number, Location, etc). Next you will notify the Rescue Crew, and then the active Rescue Crew will respond to the job. If needed (job dependant), you will liaise with WAPOL, Medical Personnel, DFES District Manage, and Commander.

The one cell phone is shared between members in the the group, when you are unable to be on duty you can pass the phone off to another member. "On Duty" can vary based upon the days/hours you are able to give to the group. This role is pivotal in the coordination of Emergency Response for the Marine Rescue group in Exmouth.

Requirements
  • National Police Certificate *

Ability to answer a phone, take notes, and basic competence of a cell phone application.
Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards the needs of persons in distress.
Adequate reading, writing, and communication skills necessary.
